SUMMARY:NEU Reps Training (Advanced)
DESCRIPTION:Reps Advanced is a three-day course which builds on the skills\, knowledge and understanding gained during the Reps Foundation course and/or Being an Effective Rep Part 1 and Part 2. \n\n\n\nThis course will further develop your confidence and effectiveness and give you opportunity to reflect on the landscape of your own workplace. The course is suitable for NEU reps in all workplaces. \n\n\n\nReps Advanced covers areas such as: \n\n\n\n\nGaining enhanced skills in representation \n\n\n\nBuilding an effective case \n\n\n\nIdentifying and responding to a range of different management styles and practices \n\n\n\nDealing with change in the workplace\, including recognition and redundancy\n\n\n\nConsulting meaningfully with members\n\n\n\nDeveloping leadership skills \n\n\n\n\nThe course will run for 3 days\, and delegates will be required to attend all sessions to successfully complete the course. \n\n\n\nAs an NEU workplace rep\, you are entitled to paid time off to participate in the course. \n\n\n\nFor further advice on eligibility for this course\, on negotiating release from work\, or for assistance with access and expenses\, please contact the West Midlands Region office on west.midlands@neu.org.uk.

DESCRIPTION:This course is for newly elected NEU health and safety representatives at workplace level as well as those H&S reps who want a refresher and Branch/District Officers and workplace reps who want to know more about what the H&S rep role involves. \n\n\n\nThis is an in person course\, run over 4 days – *Please note that you are required to attend all four days to complete the course* \n\n\n\nThe aims of this course are to help you to: \n\n\n\n\ndevelop a trade union approach to health and safety\n\n\n\nunderstand the framework of health and safety law\n\n\n\nidentify strategies for organising around health and safety in your workplace \n\n\n\ndevelop the skills and knowledge to carry out your role effectively\n\n\n\n\nTrade Union H&S Reps have a legal right to paid time off to attend training in their role. Any problems with this please contact your branch or Regional/Wales office. \n\n\n\nThe NEU funds the entire cost of this course\, including accommodation if required\, travel\, and contribution towards child/elder care if needed. DESCRIPTION:An annual event\, featuring national entertainers and speakers\, including a ‘MaryMacarthur’ in period costume delivering one ofMary’s rousing speeches and a procession of modern unions and ‘strikers’ dressed as Edwardian chainmakers\, the festival ensures that this historic episode is celebrated by the local community and trade unionists from all over the country. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Women Chainmakers’ Festival is coordinated by the TUC Midlands bringing together trade unions and community groups to host the only Trade Union run festival to celebrate the success of women.
