SUMMARY:Staffordshire NEU - The Big Weekend: Take One!
DESCRIPTION:The Big Weekend is one of our most popular events – so this year we are holding TWO!!  \n\n\n\nThere will be a second Big Weekend in the Summer term\, to tie in with the Staffordshire NEU District AGM. \n\n\n\nThe Autumn Big Weekend consists of 3 parts\, and to keep things simple there are 3 separate forms.  \n\n\n\nSo\, you only need to sign up to the relevant sections. \n\n\n\nFriday morning/afternoon – Staffordshire NEU Workplace Rep Training\n\n\n\nFinalised Schedule \n\n\n\n\n09:00 – Arrival (refreshments & snacks)\n\n\n\n09:30 – Morning session – three workshops\, with 10 minute breaks between.\n\n\n\n12:30 – Lunch\n\n\n\n13:10 – Afternoon session – two workshops\, with a 10 minute break between.\n\n\n\n15:10 – Plenary and end of training\n\n\n\n\nThe morning and afternoon sessions will consist of 5 workshops\, covering: \n\n\n\n\nSickness absence – Deborah Alston\n\n\n\nThe NEU Anti-racist Toolkit – David Muritu\n\n\n\nSupporting members through the disciplinary process – Rebecca Cann\n\n\n\nMeeting with leadership – Jo Allen\n\n\n\n1265\, directed time calendars\, and resisting “Job Creep” – Keely Jones\, Kirsty Edkins-Gadbsy & Steve Griffiths\n\n\n\n\n\nWorkplace Rep Training Sign-up Form\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFriday evening – Staffordshire NEU General Meeting and Social Time\n\n\n\nDuring the Friday evening\, at 6:30 pm\, Staffordshire NEU will hold the first “General Meeting” of the year.  \n\n\n\nOutline Agenda \n\n\n\n\nWelcome from the Staffordshire NEU President\n\n\n\nEducation Support Workshop\n\n\n\nDelegation to the Stand Up to Racisms AGM\n\n\n\nRatify Expenditure\n\n\n\nSACRE (Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education)\n\n\n\nWarwick Mansell – Education Uncovered subscription\n\n\n\nRep of the Year Presentation\n\n\n\nNORSCARF events & Burton Stand Up to Racism\n\n\n\n2025-6 Budget & Other Financial Matters\n\n\n\nNEU Annual Conference Arrangements\n\n\n\nAOB\n\n\n\n\nFollowing the General Meeting\, will be a buffet-style meal and social/entertainment time – so feel free to bring a partner\, friend and colleagues. \n\n\n\nAll meeting rooms are on the ground floor and are accessible. \n\n\n\nWe can provide supervised activities for children while members attend the meeting. \n\n\n\nFor reps/members who wish to attend the sessions on Saturday morning\, but for whom travel time would be a factor\, we can provide accommodation at the hotel. \n\n\n\n\nGeneral Meeting\, Evening Meal and Accommodation Sign-up Form\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSaturday Morning – Activist Sessions \n\n\n\nThe final session of the Big Weekender is Activist training open to ALL members. \n\n\n\nSchedule \n\n\n\n\n09:30 – Arrival (refreshments & snacks)\n\n\n\n10:00 – Morning session – three workshops\, with 10 minute breaks between.\n\n\n\n13:00 – Plenary & “Grab & Go” Lunch (you don’t need to “go”\, you can hang around and socialise)\n\n\n\n\nThe Activist Sessions will be covering: \n\n\n\n\nWorking Through Menopause & the NEU Menopause Toolkit\n\n\n\nChallenging & Changing the Curriculum\n\n\n\nBuilding LGBT+ Friendly Workplaces & the NEU LGBT+ Charter\n\n\n\n\nIf you would like to offer an additional activity for members\, please let us know – steven.griffiths@neu.org.uk \n\n\n\n\nSaturday Activist Sessions Sign-up Form
